New Trends in Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics: Classical and Quantum Systems (nesmcq18)
July 25, 2018 - July 31, 2018 , Erice, Italy

The nonlinear relaxation process in many condensed matter systems proceeds through metastable states, giving rise to long-lived states. Stochastic many-body systems, classical and quantum, often display a complex and slow relaxation towards a stationary state. A common phenomenon in the dynamics of out of equilibrium systems is the metastability, and the problem of the lifetime of metastable states involves fundamental aspects of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. Quantum Thermodynamics and Transport
May 8, 2018 - May 11, 2018 , Mainz (Germany)

The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers from the communities of condensed matter, statistical physics, quantum optics and atomic physics with the aim of discussing quantum effects on transport and thermodynamics. Topics: quantum heat and work, time-dependent drivings, thermoelectrics, quantum fluctuations, coherence and entanglement. The meeting will contribute to the understanding of fundamental properties of quantum matter out of equilibrium.
