Nanoscale and Microscale Heat Transfer VI - workshop
Dec. 2, 2018 - Dec. 7, 2018 , Levi, Lapland, Finland

The workshop will present the state-of-the-art and the modern trends of nanoscale and microscale heat/energy transfer. It will focus on phenomena at short length and time scales, where the laws of physics used in classical heat transfer are no longer valid. Heat conduction and energy transport, driven by the mesoscopic transport of electrons and phonons and thermal radiation at sub-wavelength scale are the typical topics tackled in the seminar as well as non-equilibrium and quantum effects.

684. WE-Heraeus-Seminar "Advances in open systems and fundamental tests of quantum mechanics"
Dec. 2, 2018 - Dec. 5, 2018 , Bad Honnef, Germany

This seminar aims at reporting about recent results in the foundations of open quantum systems and its connection with the most advanced experiments testing the basic features of quantum mechanics, from the microscopic to the macroscopic regime. Participants are expected to cover their travel costs, the generous support of the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation will support local costs, including accommodations and meals for all participants. Deadline for application: September 28, 2018.

School & Workshop on Quantum and Nano Thermodynamics
Sept. 27, 2018 - Sept. 29, 2018 , Älvkarleby Tourist & Conference Hotel, Älvkarleby, Sweden

The main aim is creating an environment for both student and researchers to share and discuss their knowledge and ideas about the topics of quantum & nano thermodynamics and also contributing to the education of graduate students. All researchers and students studying on or interested in the topics are welcome. Registration is free of charge and limited to 40 participants.

New Trends in Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics: Classical and Quantum Systems (nesmcq18)
July 25, 2018 - July 31, 2018 , Erice, Italy

The nonlinear relaxation process in many condensed matter systems proceeds through metastable states, giving rise to long-lived states. Stochastic many-body systems, classical and quantum, often display a complex and slow relaxation towards a stationary state. A common phenomenon in the dynamics of out of equilibrium systems is the metastability, and the problem of the lifetime of metastable states involves fundamental aspects of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. Ilya Prigogine Prize for Thermodynamics
July 25, 2018 - Feb. 1, 2019 , Barcelona, Spain

Call for Applications: The Prigogine Prize for Thermodynamics consists of a diploma, a €2000 prize and the honor to deliver an invited talk at the next Joint European Thermodynamics Conference (JETC2019) in Barcelona. It is awarded every two years to a promising young researcher for his/her Ph.D. dissertation/thesis. All aspects and branches of thermodynamics are considered, from applied and experimental to the most theoretical, therefore, qtd topics are included and welcome.

Quantum Roundabout 2018
July 11, 2018 - July 13, 2018 , University of Nottingham

The conference is open to young researchers from universities all over the UK and overseas, and it is aimed to cover the mathematical foundations of three active research areas of quantum physics, all intimately interconnected, namely: Quantum Thermodynamics, Quantum Information theory and Quantum Estimation theory. Three leading researchers in these fields will give lectures/tutorials on cutting-edge topics. Moreover, a flexible programme with room for up to 24 short talks and poster session.

Quantum Thermodynamics conference
June 25, 2018 - June 29, 2018 , Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, Santa Barbara, USA

Conference focussed on quantum thermodynamics and related topics. Coordinators: Antonio Acín, Gabriele De Chiara, Sabrina Maniscalco, and Jukka Pekola. Invited and contributed talks and posters. Registration deadline is 25 May 2018.

Quantum Thermodynamics and Transport
May 8, 2018 - May 11, 2018 , Mainz (Germany)

The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers from the communities of condensed matter, statistical physics, quantum optics and atomic physics with the aim of discussing quantum effects on transport and thermodynamics. Topics: quantum heat and work, time-dependent drivings, thermoelectrics, quantum fluctuations, coherence and entanglement. The meeting will contribute to the understanding of fundamental properties of quantum matter out of equilibrium.
