We are pleased to announce the upcoming workshop "Frontiers of Quantum Thermodynamics", which will take place on the 18th–20th September 2019 in Exeter & the English Riviera, UK. This interdisciplinary workshop will bring together ca. 30-40 experts in stochastic thermodynamics, open quantum systems, information thermodynamics, strongly correlated systems, and quantum optics, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. College on Energy Transport and Energy Conversion in the Quantum Regime

The activity consists of a 2-weeks school followed by a workshop. A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee. During the workshop, alongside the invited talks, there are a few slots for contributed oral presentations and we will ask some selected participants to present a talk rather than a poster. Nanoscale and Microscale Heat Transfer VI - workshop

The workshop will present the state-of-the-art and the modern trends of nanoscale and microscale heat/energy transfer. It will focus on phenomena at short length and time scales, where the laws of physics used in classical heat transfer are no longer valid. Heat conduction and energy transport, driven by the mesoscopic transport of electrons and phonons and thermal radiation at sub-wavelength scale are the typical topics tackled in the seminar as well as non-equilibrium and quantum effects.

684. WE-Heraeus-Seminar "Advances in open systems and fundamental tests of quantum mechanics"

This seminar aims at reporting about recent results in the foundations of open quantum systems and its connection with the most advanced experiments testing the basic features of quantum mechanics, from the microscopic to the macroscopic regime. Participants are expected to cover their travel costs, the generous support of the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation will support local costs, including accommodations and meals for all participants.
