The project is of theoretical nature and aims at optimising several thermodynamic tasks at the nanoscale, such as cooling, heat-to-work conversion, and quantum thermometry. Doctoral student in physics with focus on quantum transport and quantum thermodynamics

The PhD position will focus on theoretical studies of quantum transport in quantum dots and/or one-dimensional nanowires under the effects of external voltages, photons (in the visible range, or in the microwave regime in superconducting cavities), phonons and temperature gradients. The research will involve both numerical and analytical calculations, and will include close collaborations with experimental groups.

Doctoral student in Nanoscale Quantum Thermodynamics

The doctoral student is expected to perform theoretical work in quantum thermodynamics, focusing on electronic properties of nanosystems. It will consist of developing theoretical models for and describing transport and fluctuations of energy and charge in different nanosystems.
